I have been involved in photography for the better part of the last two decades, starting with my education in Bloemfontein, South Africa. After a year spent travelling I entered Rhodes University where I obtained a Masters Degree in Anthropology at the end of 2006. Throughout my time at University I was heavily involved with photography, both shooting and teaching through the Photographic Society (chairperson for 2 consecutive years). I now live and work in Durban, South Africa.

Currently I provide imagery to Oxford Scientific Images (a member of the Photo Library Group), the South African image library, Gallo Images, which in turn provides Getty with imagery. More of my imagery can also be seen on Alamy Stock library and on the Free Trade image library, Photographers Direct. I also freelance on assignment projects ranging from landscape and nature through to wedding, industrial and event photography. My approach is to plan ahead and consider the shots that work best for each individual assignment, while at the same time reacting to the the moment as it unfolds.

A large proportion of my time is spent running a number of photographic workshops through the tour companies, African impact, African Encounters, Clickety Click and Wild Mountain Adventures. I am also collaborating with Tailermade Safaris on workshops in the Drakensberg and Namibia. Through these companies i run workshops in the Drakensberg, Witteberge Mountains, Sabi Sands and St Lucia. Future workshops will include the Western Coast of South Africa and Namibia.

Over the years some of my work has been show-cased in the South African Getaway magazine and their Gallery section. In 2009 the image 'Cathedral Star Trails' was selected as the annual second place winner and 'Thread Waisted Wasp' was Highly Commended. A selection of these images, which can also be purchased as fine art prints, can be seen by clicking on the thumbnail below.

Clients include Getty, BHP Billiton, The South African National History Museum and the South African Natural History Museum (Bloemfontein and Durban and yes they are different). Exciting (for me) is work that is being used for the refurbishment of the National History Museum in Bloemfontein (if you are ever in there take a look at the Zulu warrior display).

In 2009 one of my images was selected as the second place winner in the annual Getaway Gallery competition, as well as another image making it through to the finals in the Environmental Photographer of the Year. In 2010 two images were selected as finalists in the Nikon Africa Photographic awards and one was selected as a semi-finalist in the Windland Smith Rice Competition. I have had a major exhibition held in the Oliewenhuis National Arts Gallery in Bloemfontein.

Enjoy the images.
